We would like to inform our shared hosting customers that we will be removing access to the Fantastico script installer in the near future. While we appreciate many users do make use of the scripts available in Fantastico, the software has unfortunately not been updated properly in years by the developers, and as a result scripts installed by Fantastico may contain severe security problems, which can potentially result in your account being hacked, exploited, abused, or even data deleted or stolen.
We have offered an alternative solution for several months now, named Installatron. Installatron allows you to install over 70 popular applications. It also includes convenient wizard-based installations, advanced backup features, new version notifications, easy automated upgrades and improved reseller branding opportunities. Plus, the applications installed are much more up-to-date than those installed by Fantastico, so you get the latest and greatest features, without security issues.
All existing Fantastico installations can be managed from within Installatron, although we do recommend you make use of the backup feature before attempting to upgrade applications, just to be safe. To clarify: all your existing scripts installed via Fantastico will continue to operate as they do at the moment. You will not be able to use Fantastico to install new scripts in the future, but you can do this with Installatron instead.
